"Just Like A Daddy"

My "Children" recently saw a picture of my Mother and I that dated years back. In perfect unison, they equally chimed, "that's Daddy!" I was rocking a mustache and had quite a bit of hair atop my head.

So I asked them if they preferred Daddy WITH or WITHOUT a mustache and they both said, "no mustache Daddy!" I also asked them if they preferred Daddy WITH or WITHOUT hair and they both said, "no hair Daddy!" My daughter proceeded to go back to what she was doing and my son came to me, embraced me and said, "Daddy, I want you to stay, "Just Like A Daddy!""

I immediately took what my son said and on the surface I was under the impression that he did not like my "other" appearance and much preferred the appearance that he has always known.

After much deliberation, I firmly believe that my son was saying, Daddy, don't change! I know you as my Father, a provider, a friend, a playmate, a companion, a protector and a dependable source of protection. Sound familiar?

I believe my son thought that should Daddy change, that Daddy WOULD change, thus altering what he KNEW his experience of "Daddy" to be. I promised my son that Daddy would not change and that he can look forward to what he knows as Daddy to be, his Father forevermore. Nothing could ever change that fact because an outward appearance does not alter or change my internal makeup. He smiled.

My son embraced me again, he took another look at the picture of his grandmother and I and he said, "that's my Daddy!"

Are you not glad that regardless of our outer appearance that HIM being our Father never changes, alters or is modified from what we have come to know it as? HE remains "Just Like A Daddy" every day of every week of every month of every year.

As a parent, as a loving father and then as a human being and finally as Corey, my "Children" demand that I keep my growth on par with theirs.

When they are old enough to read Daddy's Blogs and additional writings, they will then realize that their youthful innocence taught their Father more life lessons than I could have ever imagined or bargained for.

I'm going to take my "Children's" advice with respect to my appearance because I too prefer it now as opposed to then, all the while I simultaneously heed my son's additional advice and stay "Just Like A Daddy."

"Stronger In, Grow Through"

Whatever it is that I am going through, please allow it to change me, make me over, in the form to YOUR liking. Please allow my change to be in accordance with YOUR will as I grow "Stronger In" everything that YOU have laid out for me.

Typically, we "go through" so much that we fail to realize that through our trials and tribulations, we do not just "go through" as much as we actually "Grow Through."

I become "Stronger In," to afford me the momentum to be able to "Grow Through" whatever comes my way. I offer up myself as a conduit with the very words that vacate my thoughts and escape to all peripherals, mine, yours and the like.

I promise to be "Stronger In" to be able to "Grow Through," what comes, what may.

May my experience guide my "Children" to be "Stronger In" as they too "Grow Through" the plans that YOU have in store for them.

May the Love of my Life be "Stronger In" to be able to "Grow Through" the plans that YOU have for Her.

May whomever that subscribes to a belief that is bigger than themselves be "Stronger In" to be able to "Grow Through" what YOU have in store for them as well.

"Stronger In, Grow Through" is not optional. Our lives will indeed face ups and downs that require us to pull up our FAITH by the bootstraps and stand with the type of conviction that "Stronger In, Grow Through" requires of us.

Mind you, you do not have to be "STRONGEST In," because HE has already won that battle on our behalf. We just need to be "Stronger In," so that HE can elevate us to the next level after we "Grow Through."

"1 Extra"

With so many reasons to frown, I do my absolute best to remember that even if I have 1,000 reasons NOT to SMILE, I know that I have 1,001 reasons TO SMILE. I will always maintain that "1 Extra" because I know that when my 1,000 different ways and effort to turn my frown upside down fail, it is through HIS "1" single effort that my Soul, Faith, Happiness, Love and Life are all restored to their original default settings.

You see, every now and then, WE, like our electronic counterparts, need to be reset, rebooted (hard or soft) and refreshed. And from time to time, we need to upgrade our internal capacity and memory and change our configuration settings to handle and balance the load of processing so that OUR systems do not overload themselves.

We are just as fragile as our electronic devices. Bump US around and drop US enough times and there exists a STRONG possibility that our performance will deteriorate in a similar fashion.

I carry my "1 Extra" with me everywhere I go. Some days when I am a little short or running low, I know that it will indeed come in handy and give me what it's name implies, that "1 Extra" to get me through the storms that are attempting to single me out.

My "1 Extra" cannot be quantified by its numeric value because truth be told, if I ONLY had that "1," I would not need any "Extra's" because that "1" is the ONLY "1" that I truly need to make ALL the difference that I need in my life!

I'm so glad that there is no expiration date associated with my "1 Extra." My only obligation is to renew and keep it current with daily "Thanksgiving and Praise" to acknowledge that I will always come up short should I not have my "1 Extra" with me, AT ALL TIMES!

Keep your "1 Extra" in every pocket of every piece of article of clothing that you own. Most importantly, keep your "1 Extra" in your heart and mind, where it is most needed!

So fantastically "GLORIOUS" to know that I have an Ace in my back pocket, to be trumped by NOTHING because HE holds ALL the cards! "1 Extra."

"Fundamentally Speaking"

When I think about the fundamentals I think about the basics, the essentials in which to build upon. Long ago, I remember taking the "Fundamentals of Math" which gave me the building blocks that I was going to need as I advanced in my mathematical skills. Without those fundamentals, I would not have had the necessary building blocks that I needed in order to advance my life in the appropriate direction. Without those fundamentals, I could look forward to an abundance of "stumbling blocks" as opposed to those "building blocks" that I sought as I implored my mind to soak up all of this knowledge and embrace what was and still is, being afforded to me.

The "Fundamentals of Faith" have provided me with the same mathematical skills that allow me to use it as often as I use my math, which is on a daily basis. Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, are the core fundamentals that are permanently applicable to the life we live, with purpose and passion, not parody and plight.

The "Fundamentals of Faith" tell me that through the "Addition" of a belief system that is bigger than me, that I CAN and WILL "ADD" value to my life.

The "Fundamentals of Faith" tell me that through "Subtraction," I will "SUBTRACT" those "Meaningless Distractions" FROM my life, that attempt to anchor me down and insist that I keep THEIR misery company.

The "Fundamentals of Faith" tell me that through "Multiplication," I will "MULTIPLY" and vastly INCREASE my Blessings, opportunities, knowledge in the WORD and Faith, as I bare witness to HIS works and effort.

The "Fundamentals of Faith" tell me that through "Division," I will be able to adequately "DIVIDE" my time in doing the things that are MOST important to me, WITH the PEOPLE that are most important to me.

Math was never my favorite subject, but rest assured, I can honestly say that I wholeheartedly appreciate the VALUE and PERSPECTIVE that it has given to my life. Those core fundamentals, the basics, the essentials, all contributed to the advancement of my mathematical skills as I navigate my way through life, with the aforementioned "Purpose and Passion."

Allow the fundamentals OF and IN your Life to be of sound and good judgement.

"Fundamentally Speaking," use those "Fundamentals of Math" to "Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide," all of the variables that exist within your life.

And through the "Fundamentals of Faith," no question will go unanswered, no stone unturned, no outstanding action not taken, no bad deed unpunished and no good deed unrewarded.

The "Fundamentals of the Economy" can be debated all the day long, but since numbers do not lie, the "Fundamentals of Math" contain the kind of truth that is staunchly upheld through the "Fundamentals of Faith."

"The Best Is Yet To Come"

There have been plenty of times in my life where I have thought, "this can't be IT! This can't be life! What have I done to deserve THIS?" Unfortunately, it sounds all too familiar, doesn't it?

No one ever said that "this is it! This is life!" YOU and I have both made that proclamation ourselves, inadvertently claiming "IT." Fortunately, HE never said "this is IT." Had HE made that proclamation, none of us would be right here, right now, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year or ever again for that matter.

At the time we elaborated on that self-fulfilling prophecy, we failed to realize that even though within "our" efforts, this may very well be "IT," it is through HIS efforts that we have yet to begin to receive or even realize all of the Blessings of HIS effort. It Truly is a beautiful thing to know that within our lifetimes, "The Best Is Yet To Come."

"The Best Is Yet To Come" has absolutely nothing to do with MY best or YOUR best, for we have tried and given it OUR best.

"The Best Is Yet To Come" has absolutely everything to do with GOD's proclamation that when WE are done, it is time to step aside and allow HIM to demonstrate HIS best.

Indeed, "The Best Is Yet To Come" when he becomes the pilot, co-pilot, navigator, mechanic, engineer, runway and air traffic controller of our lives. We are NEVER late. We are ALWAYS on time. We might never lose our luggage or personal artifacts, but we will encounter turbulence along the way.

My Mother used to say, "Corey, HE never promised us a smooth ride, just a safe landing." Pack my bags and take me for a trip around the world already!

"The Best Is Yet To Come."

No mid-air mechanical problems, no crash landings. GOD, a pilot that knows how to fly. JESUS, a co-pilot that takes HIS instructions from HIS Father. The built in navigational system of the LORD. And all I have to do is get my boarding pass and take my seat?

"The Best Is Yet To Come."

I do not know where you are in your life, but after you have given it your best, tried your all and BEFORE you give up, remember that you still have an unwrapped gift underneath the tree, for "The Best Is Yet To Come."

What lies ahead of you far exceeds everything that you have deliberately left behind you.

Do not mimic or mock your future. Live in "IT," live up to "IT," and live FOR "IT."

"This Morning"

A well rested evening brings forth a day to look forward to, for the simple reason that you do not have sleep on your mind, to occupy a space that can otherwise be used to make moves and progress, thus yielding some kind of results, throughout and before the conclusion of your day.

A clear and focused mindstate is the best formula for success and "This Morning" I feel successful and compelled to accept absolutely nothing that does not even faintly resemble what "This Morning" has afforded me.

"Keeping up" and "getting out of the way" become interchangeably synonymous with one another should you just so happen to be a hindrance to others, perhaps even to yourself. Sometimes it behooves us to get out of our OWN way and to stop being our OWN worst enemy!

May this afternoon sound like "This Morning." May this evening feel like "This Morning." May tomorrow be a repeat of today in the form of a NEW day, in which to do it all over again.

"In Their Eyes"

I never imagined myself to be a champion, a hero, a do-it-all persona, "In Their Eyes." They kind of made me into something greater than I could have ever made myself into. Unbeknownst to them, they gave me a level of motivation to do things I used to struggle AT in conjunction with the things that I used to struggle WITH. They made me tap into a Love and a level of effort that I once thought was reserved for everyone else, EXCEPT me.

Reflecting back, I realize that I have always had it IN me, I just needed that someone to bring it OUT of me. Not just anyone had that capability though. It had to be someone that I truly Loved and cared about, moreso than myself! Talk about a Revelation.

It is truly humbling to humble yourself through your own reality. My reality came alive when their eyes were UPON me, when their voices started ASKING the "think quick Corey" questions, when they started EMULATING my behavior and ADOPTING it as their own and when I knew that molding their lives was the perfect opportunity to remold my own and get it right, "In Their Eyes."

If you do not understand the Blessing that comes with being a parent, you need to either have kids or live vicariously through those that do, extinguishing your very own sight and View, Live and Love, "In Their Eyes."

"Authentic SMILE"

There is an incomparable genuineness to an a "Authentic SMILE," one in which cannot be forsaken, replaced nor misunderstood. The feeling that you receive from the opposite end of that "Authentic SMILE" warms your heart and sizzles your soul to the tune of a beat that only an "Authentic SMILE" can compose.

There are no words to an "Authentic SMILE's" composition. The reciprocity of an "Authentic SMILE" is verbiage enough to say every single word that your mouth refuses to utter. If silence is golden, then an "Authentic SMILE" is pure platinum, too precious to put a price tag on, yet life should ill-afford to live without.

I hope that your "Authentic SMILE" is authentically SMILED upon as your heart warms and your soul sizzles to that "Authentic SMILE's" composition.

"Come Too Far"

Before you ever THINK about turning back and returning from wince you came, think about how far you have come THUS far to simply get THIS far!

Throughout life's many travels, sometimes you are just too far along to turn back, especially considering the Faith, strength and trust that it took for you to arrive at your current destination.

Imagine dropping out of high school in the 12th grade! Why would you drop out of college with only one semester prior to graduation? Yes, sometimes we have "Come Too Far," entirely too far, to walk away from what we have accomplished and all of the promising potential that accompanies us on and throughout our life's journey.

A friend of mine once told me "Corey, you are trying just enough to say that you did. Kick it in gear and finish this race that YOU have started." I will always appreciate those words because at that time in my life, I was afraid. I was afraid of what I might have become. Success was not familiar territory, yet I wanted it to be MY story. Well, the spirit of fear is NOT one of HIS gifts, therefore, I am finishing this race and not just enough to that say that I did, but by succeeding to prove that I could. The spirit of ACCOMPLISHMENT now fuels my motivational drive!

Should you ever feel compelled to look back, let it be to put your efforts into perspective and to witness the path that you have blazed with every intention of continuing down the same tried and true path of "Spiritual Matrimony." I am married to my Faith and belief that HE has not brought me THIS far, to leave me.

Yes, sometimes we have "Come Too Far" to turn back, albeit alright for a QUICK glance for the purposes of reflection. Otherwise, keep pressing toward that forward progression!

Should you think that you have not come far enough, allow the rearview to remind you how much you have indeed traveled. Then humble yourself in thanksgiving for the ever-present passenger that ALWAYS rides shotgun.

"Out of No Way"

There have been times in which I desperately tried in vein to make something happen and no matter what I did, which way I turned, what I TRIED to do, I could not make, nor find a way for it to unfold, unravel or actually happen.

Believe me when I say that my inability to make it happen had nothing to do with my heart or willingness in which to do so, I was just the WRONG conduit, at the WRONG time. You see THIS particular battle did not have my name affixed to it. It was my big brother's battle! And HE was the RIGHT conduit at the RIGHT time, to fight not only this one battle on my behalf, but ALL of my battles on my behalf.

You see, HE made a way "Out Of No Way" and restored my FAITH and confidence in HIS ability when HE proved the "thief, killer and destroyer" wrong, when HE covered me with HIS "Grace & Mercy," and when HE delivered on every Word that has emanated from HIS mouth!

When someone has NEVER let you down, you have no reason to doubt their abilities to do EXACTLY what they said they would do, with the love, tenacity and affection in which they do it! It is impossible to deny the intricate/starring role that they play in your life!

I have been headed down the wrong path and even when the sign said "Straight and Narrow" ahead, I continued down that wrong path, only to discover that HIS Way, "Out Of No Way," was what HE had in store for me THIS day and whether or not I liked it or not, HIS plan was the ONLY plan, hence the inevitability of my introduction to humbleness. I am TRULY humbled by HIS greatness, HIS immaculate Love and HIS breathtaking ability of forgiveness.

"Out Of No Way," HE has made EVERY way, POSSIBLE!

"Visibility and Responsibility"

An epiphany came over me as I came to the realization that visibility has a direct correlation to responsibility and what lies between the two is the link that has the vital ability to "clue you in" on matters that actually matter.

In other words, if you can SEE what needs to be done, it then becomes your responsibility to "Make It Happen!"

VISIBILITY. To see all of which needs to be done.

RESPONSIBILITY. The ownership of making sure that whatever needs to be done, gets done.

If you cannot see, thus preventing you from acting, your visibility is IMPAIRED.

If you CAN see, but you do not ACT, then your motivation to do so is IMPAIRED as well.

Being able to both see and do is the successful marriage of "Visibility and Responsibility" on its Golden Anniversary, still happy to be together and sharing the same glow as they did on day one.

I'm glad that neither my "Visibility or Responsibility" are impaired. I see what needs to be done and I take full ownership of "Making It Happen."

I've got work to do.

"Children"

As I direct my "Children" to the bathroom to cleanse their hands, oft times I will stand over them to make sure that they cleanse them properly, adequately and thoroughly. From time to time, I will RE-demonstrate how to do it and the importance all the while I'm doing so. As "Children" do, they continue to get themselves into things on a regular basis: sometimes good, sometimes not so good, sometimes clean, sometimes not so clean, but rest assured, and with strict regularity, you should count on them getting into SOMETHING!

Conversations with my "Children" are a non-optional daily occurrence. As their father, I want to know what type of day they have had, what they learned, what's on their minds, if they are ok, if they need anything, if they are happy, sad or even mad and to simply just HEAR their voices. Truth be told, since my relationship with my "Children" EXISTS, they need not say one word in order for me to gauge what's going on, what's wrong, why they're upset, what hurts, what they like, dislike, what makes them SMILE, frown or jump for joy!

I say all of this to PERFECTLY illustrate WHY the relationship with my "Children's" father is as important and even more so as the relationship with the Father that we ALL share, as HIS "Children."

Always standing over us, watching us, protecting us, cleansing us, talking to us, listening to us, understanding us, reprimanding us, giving of HIMSELF completely TO us, including HIS Son, additionally covering us with HIS Grace and Mercy.

Should I fail at everything else, yet my children prosper, I have succeeded abundantly, happily, radiantly, cheerfully, overwhelmingly and intentionally. And I can live with that!

I thank GOD for reflection, direction and instructions on how to get to that destination.

As I'm sure HE will, I shall continue to make sure that my "Children" cleanse their hands for as long as I have breath! GOD knows that my "Children," along with HIS "Children" are BOUND to get into something.

As I continue to direct my "Children" to cleanse themselves properly, adequately and thoroughly, I will use that opportunity to readily acknowledge the fact and remind MYSELF that MY Father does the same thing for me whenever "I" get into something: sometimes good, sometimes not so good, sometimes clean, sometimes not so clean, with strict regularity.

"Spotlight to My Insight"

I've heard that experience is the best teacher. If that is the case, then all of my years of experience should be able to account for and provide me with the BRIGHTEST "Spotlight to My Insight" giving me untapped visibility, unheard of perspective and a plethora of things to talk about as well as be a living example for.

By holding fast in my belief that I'm barely scratching the surface with specific regards to my hearts desires in the form of accomplishments, my appetite remains in starvation mode and the Love within my heart is as real as the same heart that pumps the blood throughout my body, giving me life with every breath that I take.

My insight is not fed through a feeding tube, but a banquet of information that rests at my fingertips awaiting the temptation of my curiosity to sit down and feast upon its wealth of knowledge.

That DIM light that used to represent my SPOTLIGHT, that unfortunately provided me no sight, inadvertently gave me the insight, to ALL that I needed to SEE.

For had it not been for the darkness, I would not know how to be a staunch supporter and appreciate the light that now surrounds me, constantly.

"Happiness Within the Happiness"

That glow that surrounds US is undeniable and it translates to others as sheer "Happiness." Since misery loves company, our "Happiness" has to be our second line of defense, to secure it without delay and to readily preserve the "Happiness WITHIN the Happiness" to make sure that it remains unchanged in our hearts, in our minds and in our daily actions of both the verbal and physical nature.

Some do not think that they can afford "Happiness" because it remains on their "list," failing to realize that this is not a purchaseable/"to do" item. "Happy" is what you BECOME! "Happiness" is what you OBTAIN through your sheer determination to become "Happy!"

Our first line of defense is our mutual LOVE for our Redeemer. Growth has facilitated the process, but being Yoked gave birth to the inevitable.

That undeniable glow will be tested before it stops mediocrity at the door, dead in its tracks, sending it on its way to someone/something else that was not prepared for its shameless attacks, unlike US.

That "Happiness Within the Happiness" keeps a SMILE upon my face, a MARCH in my step, a NAME to a face, a CLEANSE to my soul, extra SWAG in my swagger, more MEANING to my purpose, some FUNDS to my Spiritual account, a FOUNDATION for Love to stand upon, some SPOTLIGHT to my insight, my WORDS to my Prayers and a FATHER, within the daddy in me!

"Happiness Within the Happiness" is all purpose with a meaning that is here to serve as a constant, perpetual reminder that although nothing is guaranteed, our efforts to lift ourselves up higher should be fueled by our search to find that "Happiness Within the Happiness" and to finally BE and BECOME "Happy."

So here's to "Happiness" and all of our efforts before, during and after. That destinationless journey, forever travelling down that road with Smiles upon our faces, the wind to our backs, all the while being covered by HIS Grace and Mercy, the latter of which is enough to sustain "Happiness" all by itself.

HE is my "Happiness" and HE gave me YOU, that "Happiness Within the Happiness."

GOD is Good and all the reason enough for your "Happiness Within the Happiness."

"Legs to Those Words"

In order to emphatically stress the importance and relevance to the words that fall off of your lips, eventually you will have to put "Legs to Those Words" and illustrate to them the "one foot in front of the other" method. In other words, don't TALK about it, BE about it!

The words of some have the same meaningless value as that lottery ticket that did not hit, yet you still hold on to it as though they got the drawing wrong and will redo it for YOUR sole benefit!

Well, the sole benefit of others is in desperate need of YOU putting some "Legs to Those Words" and walk a marathon in Nike's new shoes called "The Truth!"

By the time people find out what is being done, they just as quickly realize that it has ALREADY been done! I waste no time in "Making it Happen;" my life depends on it!

My Mother once told me that "nothing comes to a sleeper but dreams." I'm wide awake Momma and in lieu of any sleep, I'm taking my words for a walk around the block until I'm tired of accomplishing my goals, until I'm tired of succeeding, until I cannot achieve anymore and until I'm reunited with YOU, my sweetest Mother!

I don't tell my kids we're going someplace or doing something in particular. They look up and we're already THERE or about to get our fun on. If you have nothing else in this world, you have your word, which by your actions alone carry a boatload of worth that will allow you to demonstrate for everyone that subscribes to your word that your word is worth the sticker price of its subscription.

If HE can do it and the foundation of HIS Words can be stood UPON, I can at least stand BY the words that continuously fall off of my lips. You can hold HIM to HIS word because the only thing that HE cannot do is fail. With that said, I promise to always put "Legs to Those Words," have legs ON my words and am readily prepared to walk every syllable that composes every word, that composes every sentence, that falls off of my lips.

Written in cement, not etched in sand, it's time to exercise my words today!

Have you ever known PRECISELY what you were supposed to do and WHEN you were supposed to do it with ZERO ambiguity?

Precision is a beautiful thing, for it allows you to narrow your focus and concentrate all of your energy and efforts on PRECISELY what it is that you are supposed to be doing and exactly WHEN you are supposed to be doing it.

"Precision Narrows Your Focus" and forbids distractions from entering into and diluting your thought process with things that are strictly of the trivial nature, whose sole purpose is to deter you from accomplishing your goals.

"Precision Narrows Your Focus" and grants you the operating space that is both needed and required in order for you to be as precise as precision guarantees, provided that you are focused and your objective is clearly outlined as well as stated.

"Precision Narrows Your Focus" and gives you the utmost clarity, even in microscopic granularity, with nothing left to do, but the task that has your name scribed on it.

To know PRECISELY what needs to be done and the liberty in which to do it eliminates any excuses as to why it cannot or should not be done by the scribed name.

"The Pleasure Is Mine"

Whether you LIKE it or not, REALIZE it or not or even BELIEVE it or not, people always have and will continue to talk and from time to time or just sometimes, it WILL indeed be about YOU.

This simple fact used to "irritate me to no end," knowing that people are somewhere talking to someone, with YOUR name in THEIR mouth. I used to ponder the "who, what, where and why" until one day I realized that no matter what I did or said, NOTHING was going to EVER change what people said or spoke about during the course of their conversation, even if it WAS about me.

So, I did a complete "about-face" when dealing with what "used to irritate me to no end." Since people are going to talk about you ANYWAY, I chose to give them something "GOOD" to talk about! No not the gossip and rumors that fuels their conversations, thus drawing a correlation from what they think or heard, connecting it to your name, but the "GOOD" deeds that can be directly attributed to Corey's name.

"The Pleasure Is Mine." Feel free to talk about me because what I do represents who I am and I will not give your conversation "Tabloid Topics" but instead insist upon moderating the conversation that I am not even a part of, let alone present during, yet still and all the while controlling what is being said about me.

My deeds and works will continuously outshine any innuendo perceived or otherwise that would dare speak to the contrary of the positivity that permeates the being commonly referred to as Corey.

My Mother used to insist upon me that a "closed mouth doesn't get fed." How could you possibly garner enough nutritional value should you steadily and through stubbornness, persist in keeping your mouth closed? Your appetite is irrelevant and your actions are negligent to no one but yourself should you continue down the same path, the one that reaps ZERO rewards due to your refusal to OPEN YOUR MOUTH and allow yourself to be fed!

Perhaps your "Hunger" pains are not painful enough?

Perhaps you like the sound of your stomach growling at its owner, yearning for some attention?

Perhaps you don't realize that being "Famished" is not the latest catchphrase?

Love, Happiness, Success, Life, Family & Friends ALL work in the same manner.

"Hunger" is a necessity in order to change your Life considerably.

What is it that you truly "Hunger" for? More importantly, what are you planning on doing about it?

Personally, I "Hunger" for COMPLETENESS while simultaneously refusing to settle and ultimately succumbing to defeat. Therefore, I'm "Hungry" ALL of the time.

"The Reality Of My Dreams"

"The Reality Of My Dreams" makes it seems as if the Dream is not just a prelude to the Reality that will undoubtedly unfold, but the Reality that IS right now, that is only reflecting upon the Dream in order to make sure that it gets my Reality right, albeit the second time around.

"The Reality Of My Dreams" is that they have been afforded to me and are mine, thus allowing me to one day realize them into existence, forever altering their status from Dream to Reality.

The Reality of Dreams is their stagnant status should you ONLY Dream about them becoming your Reality, unless of course you should do something substantial to alter the outcome, perhaps forever changing the course of your life.

The difference between Reality and Dreams is one six letter, two syllable word.....ACTION!

Your ACTION determines your Reality and your inability or unwillingness to ACT will only allow you to Dream about what COULD'VE been your Reality had the motivation of ACTION been present, before, during and AFTER your Dreams!

"The Reality Of My Dreams" forbids me to foolishly ponder the possibilities as opposed to prudently acting upon them.

"The Reality Of My Dreams" have predetermined their role in my life and patiently await my ACTION to claim my 100% stake in the Blessings that are mine and mine alone.

"Application, Not Memorization"

When I was younger I used to be impressed with the fact that someone could commit vast amounts of "Things" to memory and at any point in time could quote them with extreme randomness and what appeared to be expert proficiency. That was in my youth......

......As a mature adult, I find myself no longer easily impressed with those random acts and only give a second glance should that randomness be surrounded by "acts of kindness" that seek nothing in return.

As my FAITH grows, I continue to find myself paying CLOSER attention, moreso than ever before, to not just what has been committed to one's memory bank in the form of MEMORIZATION, but what is being APPLIED to their lives in the form of APPLICATION!

You see it is LESS of what you TALK about and MORE of how you WALK about! Whatever a person has committed to memory serves as ZERO purpose if the sole accomplishment was memorization.

But it is THOSE that have chosen to take that life lesson, commit it to memory, APPLY it to their lives in visual illustration of themselves and in worldly demonstration to others in order to become a tangible example for others to bare witness that it is indeed "Application, Not Memorization" that makes a difference, the ONLY difference in Life, Love, Faith, GOD, Family, Friends, Eternity and ultimately, HAPPINESS.

Quotes of scripture and knowledge of the Word does not equate to a mastery of either. That "mastery" truly makes its presence known when it has been applied to real life situations and not just "pulpit preachings" that sound good, look good and artificially feel good.

Whatever sounded good, that IS good, embrace it and become one with it! Whatever looks good, that IS good, embrace it and become one with it!

Perhaps that artificial feeling that you felt was just a lack thereof, of the greatest teacher in the world, EXPERIENCE. Once you obtain it and see that it IS good, embrace IT and become one with it as well.

The "Application, Not Memorization" will always continue to impress me due to the fact that through precious Prayer, repetitive thought and habitual ACTION, making it happen will become just as subtle and as easy as committing things to memory.

How you WALK about should truly be reflective of how you TALK about. Within the "Application, Not Memorization" is where we will find the truth of the matter, the fundamental layers that will provide us with all of the materials needed in which to build upon our foundation of Glory.

It is ALWAYS within the "Application, Not Memorization," where Victory awaits our arrival.

"Love Is Love"

"One hundred dollars worth of Love is equivalent to one million dollars worth of Love."

Should a person only have one hundred dollars to their name and they Love you with EVERYTHING that they have, you are both Loved and Blessed beyond your wildest dreams.

Should a person have one million dollars to their name and they Love you with EVERYTHING that they have, you are both Loved and Blessed beyond your wildest dreams.

Not at any point in time is that million dollars worth any more, or any less for that matter, than that one hundred dollars. Love is one of those "you cannot put a price tag on" type of items. Your credit card cannot purchase it! Your salary cannot afford it! Lottery winnings could not buy one single ounce of it! It is TRULY priceless....in EVERY sense of the word!

Should you happen upon someone with one hundred dollars or someone with one million dollars, do not fool yourself into thinking that the bigger account translates to bigger Love because "Love Is Love" and whether or not the Love is coming from the hundred dollar account or the million dollar account, "Love Is Love" and knows ZERO difference between the two. It exists because it is REAL! It will continue to exist should either account reach 100% in depletion or withdrawals because "Love Is Love" and will continue to be so.

You see that is EXACTLY why "Love Is Love." Love does not make withdrawals or contributes to depletions. "Love Is Love" because Love makes CONTINUOUS deposits into an account that cannot be withdrawn against!

"Love is Love" because in the midst of a drought, a famine or a surplus, Love continues doing the ONLY thing that Love knows how to do.......and that's Love.

"Love is Love" because Love is IGNORANT to ANYTHING that exists OUTSIDE of the parameters of Love.

"Love is Love" because Love is KNOWLEDGEABLE to EVERYTHING that exists WITHIN the parameters of Love.

"Love is Love" because Love knows absolutely nothing BUT, Love.

One hundred or one million changes positively nothing when it comes to Love.

And that is the very reason WHY....."Love is Love."

"Ghost Town"

Have you ever been traveling down a road or highway and all of a sudden you begin to realize that no one else is on that road or highway except for you? You are steadily GOING, all the while there is absolutely no ONE or NOTHING coming in the opposite direction.

You begin to wonder if you were the last to know or find out something that everyone else seemed to know, EXCEPT for you.

But as you continue on your journey, you start paying CLOSER attention to what's REALLY going on, what IS or is NOT happening, what you DO or do NOT see, and then it starts to dawn on you. At this particular moment in time, you are TRULY all alone! All by yourself! It is kind of like you are in a real life "Ghost Town."

Unfortunately, this feeling is not unique to one particular person or group of people. Sometimes when the road or highway that we are traveling down is called LOVE, it appears that we are all alone. NOTHING is coming in our direction and there appear to be no viable exit ramps in site.

When it comes to LOVE, there are those that KNOW what to do with it, those that do NOT know what to do with it and then there are those that knowingly ABUSE it! Oft times on our journey up LOVE's road or down LOVE's highway, we happen upon these VERY different people and by chance, stance or circumstance, we ultimately give them a ride without knowing where their heads are at and if it is indeed in sync with their hearts, GOOD hearts.

Now we start getting flat tires, find ourselves dodging pot holes on a regular basis and our vehicles are in desperate need of front-end alignments, tune-ups and paint jobs amongst other things.

There is no sense in pointing fingers at this point in time because our vehicular maintenance was going to be needed anyway. We just find ourselves upset at the fact that the frequency in which it now has to happen is unnerving, overwhelming.

LOVE should not BE a "Ghost Town."

LOVE should not FEEL like a "Ghost Town."

LOVE should not APPEAR to be a "Ghost Town" or EXIST as one.

Driving down or up LOVE's road or highway, you should find yourself in good company. HOV lanes should be EVERY lane because your passenger(s) have the same wants and needs as you and you just so happen to be going in the same direction, to the same destination.

Should you ever happen to pick up someone that doesn't know what to do with LOVE, either exercise REASONABLE (not unlimited) amounts of patience with them or let them catch the next ride.

Should you ever happen to pick up someone that knowingly abuses LOVE, put your hazard lights on, pump your brakes and immediately pull over and tell them to "get out!"

Should you ever happen to pick up someone that knows what to do with love, embrace them every chance that you get, cherish them with all that you have and be thankful that on LOVE's bypass, you were able to fill up on the most valuable source of fuel known, LOVE.

That "Ghost Town" should now have a Census Bureau to tally up the vast amounts of LOVE that now happily exist.

In the absence of my Mother's physical presence, it feels like a "Ghost Town," but since the presence of her LOVE forever remains, I have claimed my residence in a very populous place called LOVE.

"Tall Glass of Something"

Have you ever poured yourself into a "Tall Glass of Something" only to later discover that that "Tall Glass of Something" was cracked?

Speaking from experience, I know there were times that I can recall in which I did just that. I poured myself into a "Tall Glass of Something" only to find out that that glass was cracked, still half empty or not even CLOSE to not being filled, but FULFILLED!

No matter what I thought, what I tried to do or how I maintained an optimistic outlook on what was happening right before my eyes, that "Tall Glass of Something" was just not the right beverage for my consumption.

There were times that as soon as I tasted it, I knew, but I thought that I could disguise it by adding some sugar, sweeten it up and make my taste buds COMPLY with my self-imposed mandatory thoughts of disillusioned happiness. And THERE is exactly where I went and continued to go wrong.

My Mother used to warn me about APPEARANCES! "Believe none of what you hear and only HALF of what you see Corey. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck!"

Yet I continued in my attempts at refilling an unfillable "Tall Glass of Something," only to the detriment of my psychological landscape. In other words, it was driving me crazy and only too happy at my participation in my own demise!

The beauty of now being on the OUTSIDE looking in is the fact that my view is now unobstructed and all pertinent objects are in plain, visible sight.

So, that "Tall Glass of Something" had and served a worthy purpose in my LIFE. It never quite quenched my thirst, but it taught me how to savor what WAS good and satisfying to my tastebuds. Now I am conscious of what I pour myself into and should it be a "Tall Glass of Something," it will undoubtedly be irresistibly quenching to my soul.

Perhaps to this day, that is why I request a straw with my beverages. This way, I take my time, one sip, one swig at a time and THIS time around appreciate the RIGHT beverage that FULFILLS my "Tall Glass of Something."

Let your "Tall Glass of Something" be FULFILLING to you as well. One sip, one swig at a time.

"New Beginnings"

"New Beginnings" should always be wrapped and bundled in PRESENTATIONS to symbolize their IMPORTANCE, their WORTH, their BIRTH.

"New Beginnings" are just that, the BIRTH of something new. A new relationship, a precious baby, that one job, your dream house, a fresh new start at LIFE itself.

Truth be told, your "New Beginning" has probably been holding a spot for you for some time now. Your arrival was mandatory before progressing and moving forward with the rest of your LIFE.

"New Beginnings" only make one request, your presence, in both the physical and mental form. Just your presence! Such a small requirement for such a big event that will forever change LIFE as you presently know it.

My interpretation of "New Beginnings" is GOD's way of allowing you to get it right this time around and enjoy all of the Blessings that have been tailored just to your specifications.

To know that SOMEWHERE out there is SOMETHING that was made just for YOU! My GOD, that is exactly what "New Beginnings" are ALL about!!! Discovering what was once undiscoverable! Doing what was once unimaginable! Obtaining what you once THOUGHT was unattainable! Living the LIFE that you never thought you ever could!

As we toast to "New Beginnings," let us not soon forget our origins and the journey to our "New Beginnings" that we now cannot imagine LIFE without.

"Quiet Calm"

Who knew that going home would answer so many questions and bring about a "Quiet Calm" that I have been in search of for quite a long time? The remarkable presence of GOD never ceases to amaze me.


HE is Omnipotent!
HE is Omnipresent!
HE is GOD all by HIMSELF!

My Mother was a GREAT woman, one in which could NEVER be replaced!!! Being my Mother is only part of the equation. When I bare witness to the lives that She has impacted with Her life, I cannot help but to be proud of what She stood for, cherish Her memory, lift Her up in EVERYTHING that I do and speak of Her as if She is STILL in the room.

At my birth, GOD knew how long that HE would Bless me with the presence of my Mother. In Her death I am overjoyed that I was Blessed to have been so lucky with the time that I DID have. As I reflect back on what Time means and how I chose to use my time, I cannot help but to conjure up "Memories of Mom" telling me, "Corey, you cannot soar with the eagles, if you are going to hoot with the owls. Time waits for no one." That was "my" Mom!

Tomorrow is promised to no one and my Mother made no guarantees for She knew that the power to do so resided with the LORD. What my Mother COULD guarantee was that come "hell or high water," She loved me. She lived for me. She inspired me and She molded me into what I am today: a Father, a Son, a Brother, an Uncle, a Grandson, a Cousin, a MAN, someone that She knew beyond a shadow of doubt, would not stop until it was time to stop. That was "my" Mom!

It is victoriously comforting to know that GOD is GOD all by HIMSELF!

It is remarkably wonderful to know that sometimes the answers to your questions are within the confines of familiar territory, within the very walls that you refer to as home.

The interior of my home is reflected on the exterior of Corey. I have found my "Quiet Calm."

"Better"

Whatever challenges we face only makes me into a "Better" man, "Better" father, "Better" soulmate, "Better" boyfriend and ultimately the BEST husband!

If I am not striving to be "Better," then I am wasting my time and quite frankly, yours too. My "Better" can only lead me straight down the path to my BEST, which is exactly what you deserve. If I give you nothing else, everyday that GOD breathes life into my body, I will give you "Better" in the form of my absolute BEST!

To accomplish my BEST keeps my "Better" on its P's and Q's, always in search of those single moments in time in which to perfectly illustrate why my "Better" is in hot pursuit of my BEST.

My BEST makes me "Better" for now I have a standard of quality in which to measure ALL of my "Better's" against. The quality of my "Better" is just as compelling as the beauty that I bare witness to everytime I APPRECIATINGLY look into the eyes of my soulmate, the perfect piece to my oft times complicated puzzle.

"Infrastructure"

You ever drive by a new housing community being developed and witness the finished homes, the skeletal frames and the lots where the homes are TO BE constructed?

The epiphany that lies within this "under construction" community is that this newly formed community bares a strikingly, undeniable resemblance to Life itself.

You see, if our lives were constructed in thirds, then we would have the Lots (33%), the Skeletal Frames (66%) and the Finished Homes (99%). What I mean by this is the fact that you do not just ARRIVE at a finished, ready to move in home. A lot of preparation and determined work went into "constructing" YOUR community, the place where YOU dwell.

Some of us want that finished product without having to put in the work, if any, to build a place that we can happily call HOME. This usually means that there will more than likely be inadequate "Infrastructure" in place in which to sustain any growth whatsoever.

Some of us have the skeletal framing in place and are well on our way to that finished product.

Then there are those that have followed and stuck to the script from breaking the ground, laying the foundation, constructing the home, Blessing the home, then moving in and celebrating with the housewarming festivities.

In a nutshell, there is a process that needs to take place before you can realize an end product in which to dwell.

Would you and your family move into a vacant "33%" lot? Probably not.

Would you and your family move into a skeletal "66%" framing? Probably not.

Or would you move you and your family into a finished, fully furnished "99%" home?

I will start with my 33 and work towards that 99 (100 in mind), with the caveat that no matter how you calculate the math, the ONLY 100% in ANYTHING is HIM, which is where "I" choose to dwell!

"Before You"

You ever get mad or upset with someone for doing something that they did before they met you? Did it ever occur to you that perhaps the reason why they are with you now has everything to do with the fact that what they USED to do is a thing of the past, not representative of who and what they are and mean to you and vice versa?

Do not get mad or upset with someone for what they USED to do "Before You." Stop and Think! Maybe, just MAYBE, you are the very reason why they no longer DO what they USED to do "Before You."

Maybe, just MAYBE, you are the reason for the season and their ongoing growth and change. Do not hold them in contempt in YOUR court of law for their past indiscretions. You are probably the BEST defense attorney they have ever come in contact with to help them beat all of their cases, their past!

Be Blessed and remember that whatever was done "Before You" was just that, "Before You!"

"Dynamics of the Landscape"

Having a humble Spirit truly changes the "Dynamics of the Landscape" that we inhabit, coexist, dwell, worship, live, eat, sleep, play, grow, change, comply, rebel, succeed and or fail.

The "Dynamics of the Landscape" are forever changed from the view to the newfound APPRECIATION of that exact same view! It is reminiscent of that movie you saw for the 2nd and 3rd time. You always catch something the next time or two that you missed the first time around.

That APPRECIATION is all the motivation that further encourages you to develop, sustain or maintain your humble Spirit!

And now within that view you see the forest for the trees, the picture WITHIN the picture, why the "Dynamics of the Landscape" warranted your attention to begin with and the very reason that you dust off to reveal the PURPOSE, "your" purpose.

Appreciate the manicured lawns and their impeccable landscape. They might be trying to REVEAL something to you that was there ALL ALONG!

"W-2's"

In the gym one day, getting my body right, I ran into and had a conversation with a good friend/colleague of mine. Here we were, both in the same place at the same time, about to have a discussion surrounding what we all collect on a yearly basis!

No coincidence that we were both present because I am of the firm belief that EVERYTHING happens for reason. Although the reasoning might seem to elude us, it shall be REVEALED in due time, exactly when it is supposed to be revealed.

So, as he proceeded , I heard him say, "Corey, you cannot leave a legacy behind by collecting W-2's."

The beauty in his statement has nothing to do WITH the POWER of his statement (although that is vitally important), but has everything to do with HOW GOD works. I was in the gym to lift weights and do some cardio. But GOD had a message for me and on THAT day, in the gym, it was hand delivered directly to me, using my friend as the sturdy conduit, in which to deliver HIS message. If you don't know HIM, I am proof that GOD is Good!

My good friend informed me that I needed to leave behind a legacy that was not just solely within the stack of "W-2's," to show forth the fact that I once existed. But I needed to leave behind a legacy that will live on long after my death, through my work and the passing of the torch on to my children.

Of course later on that day when I reflected upon his statement, I pondered on the manner in which to leave such behind. What do I leave to my children? What could I possibly leave them to carry on? Needless to say, the messenger accomplished something of great human importance: "he got and KEPT my full, undivided attention."

I went back to school to complete my undergrad and through school, I embarked upon a writing campaign that has not subsided, yielded to anything oncoming, or even stopped for a brief moment in time. I have essentially parlayed my writing into my good friends form of a "W-2," a legacy.

A thought that created a spark, that ignited the flame, into a full blown inferno! Yes indeed, GOD is Good!

My Legacy List continues on its upward mobility and has grown longer than I could have ever imagined it to! The contents of each of our Legacy List's is strictly and solely contingent upon US! I encourage you to do what I was once encouraged to do and remember the messenger's message that day in the gym: "Corey, you cannot leave a legacy behind by collecting W-2's." Motivated by the fullness of the Love that I receive from you, I need not worry about the use of my reserves to compensate for anything, for I am lacking nothing, functioning solely on the power and strength of the Love that you have for me.

I see the unseen and I feel the untouched as I navigate to my desires ultimate destination, "My Sweetest Love," which is You!

If you are not making a difference in your life or in the lives of others, "Then What Are You Doing?"

If you are not positively enforcing CHANGE and constructively reinforcing the REASON and NEED for change, "Then What Are You Doing?"

If the LOVE that you profess is shallow and weak in verbal and physical demonstration, "Then What Are You Doing?"

If you call yourself a father, yet you do not see NOR spend QUALITY time with your children, "Then What Are You Doing?"

If you were hired to perform at an exceptional rate, yet you refuse to live up to your interviews expectations, "Then What Are You Doing?"

Since you complain at every opportunity that presents itself, yet you offer up ZERO solutions for anything, "Then What Are You Doing?"

If you are not MAKING a difference, BEING the difference or SUPPORTING the difference-makers, "THEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

"Chit Chatter"

The "Chit Chatter" of doubt gets on my last nerves! That is exactly why I give Praise and advanced thanks for I know that it has ALREADY been worked out. The details are upon me. The solution is at hand and my heart was the only demand!

Silence speaks much louder than the raucousness of that irritating "Chit Chatter!" Doubt has one single purpose, to "cast." Doubt "casts" itself in that supporting role, but in all actuality, it is not supporting ANYTHING that you are working on or towards.

That "Chit Chatter" is doubts accomplice in its feeble attempt to undermine what you believe, who you are and what you are getting ready to become. Doubt's "Chit Chatter" may even appear surround sound good, but they are ALL habitual lies that have been formed to hinder your motivation and execute your Spirit.

Killing your Spirit is too easy for doubt. That continuous "Chit Chatter" is methodical in its execution process. It wants to make sure that you are broken down to the least common denominator and permanently demoralized in your attempts at success and most importantly your attempts at getting up and trying again should you not be as successful as you would like the first time out of the gate.

If doubt is hovering over you, get from underneath it!

Talk is notoriously cheap and "Chit Chatter's" worth is even less than that! Put some REAL value into your actions and re-"cast" "Chit Chatter's" doubt to a non-existing role in your life.

"No Difference"

Whenever negative energy is involved, it makes ZERO, "No Difference" whether you're at Church or in the club. Should you allow yourself to fall into the trap of negativity, your whereabouts are trivial due to the fact that you have ALREADY given yourself permission to feed into the ridiculous hype.

At the end of the day, negativity all amounts to nothing more than exaggerated hype perpetuated by the very people who not only carry and transfer the energy, but wear it on their sleeves as a sort of badge of honor as if they have just returned from combat on the battlefield.

Strangely enough, should we be so tempted to engage in the mediocrity, we too might fall victim in the form of a casualty of war. Negativity has snipers in many locations, anxiously awaiting to demonstrate their marksmanship skills upon unknowing individuals who are just going about their daily routine, living their lives, minding their own business, whether they are in Church exalting the highest Praise or they are in the club sweating out a long week on the dancefloor.

Yes indeed, it makes ZERO, "No Difference" whatsoever, where you are. One of the greatest weapons against negativity lies within the knowledge that you are abundantly aware of its existence. Stay in the know!

"Track Record"

So all throughout life we are known for doing some things, saying some things or being some things that constantly remind people of who and what we are. We become known for these things, good, bad or otherwise and they become ATTACHED to us in the form of a "Track Record."

This very "Track Record" precedes us in physical form because chances are our "popularity" via our "Track Record" has given those that not ALREADY know us, but those that do not know us, a glimpse
into how we do some things, say some things and how we handle other things.

That being said, if our "Track Record" is our "first impression representative," then it should represent us well! Should it not? We should not roll the dice on our "Track Record" hoping that people have ONLY been privy to the good stuff.

We should represent ourselves in the form of a formidable "Track Record," one that cannot be denied due to its importance, relevance and INFLUENCE.

When I reflect back on my YOUTH "Track Record" and compare it to todays GROWN "Track Record," I am overjoyed that I have long since terminated my old representative in favor of one that I can be proud of. When it comes to my FAMILY I have made the conscience decision to never do anything that could "POTENTIALLY" embarrass them.

The word "POTENTIALLY" ensures a crystal clear, squeaky clean "Track Record," not in the form of perfection but in the form of cleanliness. Since cleanliness is next to GODliness, I believe that I will be able to keep my "Track Record" in tact with excellent representation!

"Setting The Right Expectations"

You ever go on a job interview, get offered, accept the position and anxiously await your first day on that job? I mean your level of excitement is so HIGH that you are even looking forward to orientation!

From a couple of weeks to the first few months on the job you begin to realize that what you are doing is contrary, not even CLOSE to what you were initially hired to do. You start getting the feeling that perhaps there was a gap in communication or that perhaps the hiring manager said what he or she needed to say in order to lure you in and persuade you otherwise. Even if that is far-fetched, the bottom line is the wheels to the right expectations were NOT set in motion.

Sometimes in fear of REJECTION, we falsify the reality of the/our situation in order to gain acceptance, albeit inevitably skewed considering the birth of the expectations were not natural and that the right expectations were NOT set in place.

Once we realize that the expectations were not 100% in their transfer from one person to the next, it appears as if the onus is squarely on our shoulders to either get onboard or be the odd man/woman out should we refuse to accept.

Therein lies the conflict! You KNEW what you wanted and thought that you were getting EXACTLY that! Only to find out that what you thought and what you got were each at the opposite ends of the spectrum, nowhere in each others sight.

"Setting The Right Expectations" is absolutely imperative! In doing so, you decrease, diminish and eradicate any ambiguity, perceived or otherwise as to what you expect, what is expected of you and all that exists between the two. A colleague of mine once told me to "inspect what you expect."


Don't fear rejection! Sometimes rejection is a Blessing in disguise because what is later revealed might not be in accordance to what our expectations were to begin with.

Embrace rejection, for it might wind up saving us from a lifetime of heartache and pain.

Momma used to say, "Everything that glitters ain't gold."

Once the revelation comes to pass, you will be glad that you were not shy about "Setting The Right Expectations."

The only thing that grows in a drought is your appreciation for what you may have just lost.

My Mother used to tell me, "Corey, you never miss your water until your well runs dry. Do not wait until you are in a drought before you affectionately display your appreciation for all that you have, be thankful for all of your Blessings to come and Love all that Love you, namely HIM.

A lifetime of "Love and Advice" unparalleled, undeniable and truly unforgettable! If the world only had a Mother like mine, I'm convinced of the difference that would have been made from the onset, fresh out the gate.

"Love and Advice" are both free of charge and any suggestion of a fee would be repulsive and reprehensible. All of the "Love and Advice" that I have received over the years from my Mother, loved ones, colleagues and friends alike would require me to be in complete and utter servitude in a feeble attempt at repayment towards a debt that exceeds my ability to quantify.

Therefore, display your level of enthusiasm and appreciation for all that IS within your arms reach. Do not wait until you are caught in a drought before you quench your thirst of appreciation.

"100"

When I started authoring my All the Best, All the Time! Blog, I had no earthly idea the type of response that it would garner. People that I have NEVER even laid eyes on have written me to share their own stories and to talk about how my stories have impacted them!

GOD is Good and I Love My Momma!!! Talk about having the BEST bodyguards ever! I almost feel guilty for being THIS Blessed.

Had it NOT been for GOD working through my Mother to make me the man that I am right now, today, tomorrow and forevermore, I would not have exceeded anyone's expectations because no one would have had ANY expectations of me to begin with, perhaps even myself.

I know from wince my Blessings flow and as equally important, I am abundantly aware of the fact that THIS is "Not About Me." This is BIGGER than me. It always HAS been and it always WILL be! The Blessing within the Blessing lies in the fact that "I know this."

The Spirit that constantly surrounds my being is not by chance, accident nor coincidence. It is SUPPOSED to be here! And HERE is EXACTLY where "I" am SUPPOSED to be!

As I reflect back on what "100" means to me I cannot help but think about "1." You see if you were to ONLY gravitate towards "1" the "100" that it took was STILL all worth it. It does not work for me, it is all for HIM. HE's just good like that!

When I think about where I could've been as opposed to where I AM RIGHT NOW, coupled by the fact that I am covered by HIS Grace and Mercy, I am honored to serve as a conduit for HIM in which to make it happen. Not that HE needs me, but that HE so chooses to USE me.

For that very reason, I'm thankful, humbled and SO inspired! In turn, I am therefore inspired to inspire others in the same manner that I too am inspired. The Laws of Reciprocity dictate that as such.

I've ALREADY claimed 1000, 100 at a time. I'll see you at 200!

"Jugglin' Act"

Big Top nor Ringling had or has anything on a single-parented household where a "Jugglin' Act" requires more than a high school diploma and at LEAST a Masters Degree or better! When you are active in your childs life, it is kind of hard to fathom that there are actually parents out there that are NOT involved!

Taking a quick glimpse of the landscape and you begin to realize that the weeds have begun to grow ferociously and that no one outside of the single-parented household is encouraged nor motivated to do anything about it as we idly witness those parents burn their candles at BOTH ends.

Come hook or crook, I witness these parents make it happen in order to both provide for AND encourage their children that there is INDEED a "BETTER" out there.

My Mother was a single parent and although she made sure that the streets did not claim another black male, in particularly her first born, she struggled nonetheless. You couldn't tell that in her "swagger," because she was always on point! But she was still human, one person holding it down for all of us!

The support system that these single parents have in place is as little as none to as much as blessed. And the reason why the "as little as none's" do not think that they are blessed is because we have yet to introduce them to any other options. Although they might not be OUR kids, it is still OUR problem. We are all HIS children and HIS children deserve nothing short of spectacular.

Before my Mother, with my Mother and after my Mother, the "Jugglin' Act" continues and will do so until we stand BESIDE the parents and blow out one end of that candle in preservation of the journey that lies before.

The David Copperfields in the form of absent parents need to perform acts OTHER THAN disappearing and actually balance the "Jugglin' Act" that has BOTH Big Top and Ringling dumbfounded with respect to the performances that are rendered day in and day out by these dedicated single-parents.

Since I represent my Mother and all of her good deeds and works:

Although the road is long and winding at times and perhaps even all of the time, remain strong and stay encouraged. HE has NOT forgotten about you!

"Milestones"

"Milestones" are not just diamond items that are put into a project plan. "Milestones" are points and places we arrive at in our lives to appreciate all of the preceding actions that it took for us to get to this point.

According to YOUR life's project plan, you should have plenty of "Milestones" that you will arrive at ALL throughout your journey. Appreciate those "Milestones" for what they REALLY represent: a mirrored reflection of YOU and everything that you have done thus far!

Should you have no action items between each of your "Milestones" then it should not come as any surprise at your NEXT "Milestone" that in all actuality, you are STILL at the PRECEDING "Milestone," with little to zero progress. You accomplished nothing in a hurry!

But for those that adorn their life's project plan with EXPECTATIONS, they subsequently set up purpose, tasks, deliverables and ROI's. Not to be outdone by feeble attempts at success and greater accomplishments in mediocrity, "Milestones" have a way of overshadowing and bringing triumph to the table.

It is nice to know that before I feast, after my Grace, VICTORY will satisfy my insatiable appetite. I am famished at the thought of the preparation that lies before me and desire to drown my thirst in the knowledge that hath sustained me thus far, compelling me to celebratory mode via Honor and Praise fit for no one, but HIM!

Reaching "Milestones" are important, so long as the detailed details are recognized as PART of the "Milestones."

Before I embark upon the path to my next "Milestone" I will be sure to take inventory and APPRECIATE the Lessons Learned along the way until the "Milestones" in my life have all been checked complete.

"Better Than That"

I hold the door and allow ladies to go before me, because as a gentleman I was raised to do nothing less than that. Anything less than would silently scream, YOU know "Better Than That."

I wouldn't think of NOT offering my seat to a woman or an elder, all the while finding enjoyment in my upright position as if I were still sitting because I was raised "Better Than That."

I scoff at the notion that gentlemen are on par with dinosaurs because according to myself and my upbringing, I know, "Better Than That."

I teach my son "Ladies First," while he practices with his sister so she can simultaneously understand what it means to be TREATED like a lady. Thus hitting two birds with one stone, my son will become a gentleman as my daughter becomes a lady. Anything less than that would be unacceptable.

I am grateful in the fact that who and what I am has EVERYTHING to do with who and how I was raised.

I could not imagine being less than what is expected of me. Whether living up to expectations or fulfilling your own, create a standard that will separate yourself from the crowd. Be more than what is expected of you and dare to raise your own expectations to heights you might have once thought were unattainable. At the end of the day, co-sign the fact that "unlike the less thans" you are indeed, "Better Than That."

My Mother used to tell me that the pen is mightier than the sword and that the healing power of words could save a many souls that once thought they were eternally doomed. But by opening up their mouths, they had the power to either save themselves, someone they knew or someone that they came in BRIEF contact with.

"The Power of Words" to speak into existence the very healing, fortune, goodness in the form of upliftment, encouragement, guidance, FAITH and forgiveness are truly a powerful gift that everyone has the ability to use on a regular, consistent basis, if we so desire.

"The Power of Words" is an unparalleled artform that can be an all encompassing medicinal GODSEND to make a difference not just in YOUR life but the lives of EVERYONE that you shall come in contact with during YOUR lifetime.

My Mother was right then and "The Power of HER Words" STILL resonate deep within both my sub AND conscious state to this DAY!

Oft times as parents do, we wonder if our children are listening, have heard us and if the message got through. I heard and fondly remember MY Mothers words as if she just hung up the phone from sharing them with me.

Make a difference in the words that you speak and relish in "The Power of the Words" that roll off of your tongue. Pretend like your Mother is listening. I know mine is!

"Wonderful"

When I have taken it as far as I can, it sure is "WONDERFUL" to know that the journey is not ENDING, yet just BEGINNING because it is now within HIS capable hands.

To know that my Mother, whom I cherish with all of my being, suffers NO MORE, is 100% pain FREE, coupled with the fact that she now resides with the LORD is absolutely, impeccably "Wonderful!"

Witnessing the exponential growth of my children RIGHT before my very eyes is nothing short of some kind of Loving "Wonderful."

Harvesting the crops from the seeds that were planted quite some time ago, that are now used to nourish my mind, body and soul are nutritiously "Wonderful."

You see life is "Wonderful" in so many seen and unseen capacities that it beckons my attention to acknowledge all that has been bestowed upon and all that is right, good, plentiful, beautiful and joyous within a world where I know from wince my Blessings flow, from which direction the winds of change blow and the bright light that constantly illuminates my glow!

All that is good is all that is "Wonderful."

The people that are the closest to you and claim to be your friend could very well be the perpetrators of intentional and malicious deeds, thoughts and actions aimed in your direct path.

What lies beneath "The Motivation Of Others?"

"Keep your friends close and your enemies even CLOSER." That is a mandatory sentiment that holds true in everything that you do. People are motivated by different things and what you represent could be viewed as a threat to them.

Most of the venom that has been spat my way can be attributed directly to the fact that I refuse to lose! One morsel of success could easily bring out the knives in spectacular fashion. Deflecting the attacks is useless, if you are not even aware of the fact that you are being attacked!

What lies beneath "The Motivation Of Others?"

Success is my preferred weapon of choice and I choose to use it REGULARLY and WELL! Whatever the motivating factors of others are shall be greeted by my knowledge thereof and my success thereafter!

Do not allow "The Motivation Of Others" to guarantee victory in the form of YOUR failure. Inevitably, your success hinges on the motivation of YOURSELF!

"In My Life" I have failed.....and during the lessons learned from that failure, I have abundantly succeeded and subsequently elevated all levels of maturation. You see, within that failure is EXACTLY where the growth was hiding!

"In My Life" I have been the proud recipient of unpeelable layers of Love that have affectionately demonstrated that their strength and purpose was to strengthen ME and purposefully give me purpose.

"In My Life" I have endured losing the closest people to me. My Brother, My Grandmother, My Mother and other loved ones and Friends alike. It is within each loss that I have gained in strength and understanding. My life would not be what it is TODAY, had it not been for who they were YESTERDAY....to ME, EVERYDAY. They made me POSSIBLE! And I give all the Honor, Glory and Praise for accepting me in their lives. They made me BETTER!

Therefore, "In My Life," my goal is to SHARE in my lessons on success and failure, offer my unpeelable layers of Love in addition to strength and understanding to those who must also endure the pain of loss.

"Single Seed Of Inspiration"

Growing up in those gutter, grimy, ghetto streets of North Philly, it was hard to find a source of inspiration to keep you motivated that there is indeed a better life out there, awaiting your arrival.

That "Single Seed Of Inspiration" seems to adequately and mysteriously avoid your whereabouts at all costs! MY "Single Seed Of Inspiration" was and continues to be my Mother!

I was CONSTANTLY reminded that my environment did not dictate my actions and that HIS Grace and Mercy will CONTINUE to serve as my umbrella, no matter the weather. Come rain, sleet, snow or hail, that "Single Seed Of Inspiration" was planted, watered and nurtured until my growth afforded me the opportunity to plant my very own "Single Seed Of Inspiration."

Inspiration curved the hunger pains of temptation to do everything that I knew wasn't right. I was Blessed and fortunate enough to have that "Single Seed Of Inspiration" in my life. I pray for the less fortunate, those who feel that their "Single Seed Of Inspiration" has been absent their entire existence. I'm here to tell you that it is indeed there, you just haven't discovered it as of yet.

I am permanently inspired so that I may be that "Single Seed Of Inspiration" for someone else. If it is all about reciprocity, then I'm signing up and giving back! My Mother wouldn't have it any other way and since all of my actions represent the stellar job in which she did raising me single-handedly, I happily accept my responsibility of affording someone else a "Single Seed Of Inspiration" so that they too can realize that there IS indeed a better life out there.....awaiting YOUR arrival!

"What's Important"

Nowadays, I ONLY complete tasks under ONE label: "What's Important."

I never realized how much time was wasted until I tried to do it ALL, while simultaneously burning my candle at BOTH ends. Momma warned me against doing that. Albeit and better late than never, the conservation of my wax was completely dependent upon ME getting IT!

I am STILL uncovering, discovering, relishing and wallowing in the knowledge deposits that my wonderful Mother invested into my wisdom account. Talk about having a DIVERSIFIED portfolio! I first learned that from my Momma, NOT my college professor!

My to do list is composed of nothing but "What's Important." I give GOD all the Glory, Honor and Praise! I "enJoy" my daddy duty responsibilities (PLURAL)! I spend QUALITY time with Family and Loved ones and I exercise my mind, body and soul!....IN THAT ORDER!

It is not only important to RECOGNIZE what is important, it is as equally important to treat what is important ACCORDINGLY. Even though you might reside on "The Same Page" as your significant other, never falter in SHOWING them how much you "Truly" Love them.

When I first started RECOGNIZING "What's Important," little did I know how easy the non-important items would simply fall to the side, where they now permanently reside. Better STILL, I do not even miss them.

RECOGNIZE "What's Important" and KEEP "What's Important" at the tippy-top of your list. For me, it wound up being one of the BEST decisions that I have ever made in my adult life.

Every letter that composes every word that composes every sentence that composes every paragraph all suggest and indicate that we reside on "The Same Page."

You do not have to tell me that you love me, since I am in love with you, I am already and readily AWARE of your feelings because we reside on "The Same Page."

From across a jam-packed, stuffy, crowded room, a single glance from you could indicate the intentions of two people that reside on "The Same Page."

Wordless verbatim proves to be the ONLY verbiage for people that reside on "The Same Page."

When I think about participation, I think about my individual contribution in the form of an idea or an action that is preceded by my willingness and followed by results.

I've come to the conclusion that it is decisively of the utmost importance to accurately differentiate between someone tearing you down and someone attempting to build you up in the form of a challenge.

What we do or do not do, say or do not say is measured by our level of PARTICIPATION. In order to get ahead of the game and even ponder VICTORY, we need to not only SHOW UP for the game, but buckle down, accept the challenge and get IN the game!

Life has not treated me any type of way or handicapped my performance. If anything it has made me more determined to prove the naysayers wrong and put on full display the inner-most potential that resides within ME.

I will no longer make excuses or rely on them as an alibi as to WHY I did not do what I needed to do or say what it is that I needed to say.

"What Needs to Be Done"

When you love them, "What Needs to Be Done" will be a thing of the past because you will have ALREADY done just that to rid the uncertainty lurking around Love's corner, all too ready and willing to pounce on that single ounce of uncertainty that will ultimately increase in size, eventually outweighing you and your all-too-late efforts.

Doing "What Needs to Be Done" is as mandatory as brushing and flossing on a regular basis. And we know what happens should you decide to neglect your dental hygiene; a painful reminder that a little bit of maintenance does indeed go a long way.

Do "What Needs to Be Done" to preserve the Love that is not even GUARANTEED or even REALIZED by more people than you could ever imagine.

Do "What Needs to Be Done" so that you do not find yourself, by yourself. Alone.

"Truly"

It is "Truly" a beautiful thing to realize that in order to live, you must FIRST love. Love is the recognition that there is something greater than, not less than and totally inclusive of YOU.

The majority of time we envision love, it is vicariously, through the perceived reality of others. Why can't it be YOUR reality? Why shouldn't it be YOUR reality?

We should "Truly" live our lives as examples of the same Love that we insatiably crave. I should "Truly" exercise my Love in the same manner that I exercise my body, with favorable results, always on my mind. There should "Truly" be zero ambiguity about how I feel about you! There should "Truly" be no question about how much I am consumed by my very Love, the very Love that I have for you, that which is undeniably characteristic of my every action therof, pertaining strictly to you.

I "Truly," Love You!

No thoughts other than Love are relevant or worthy of the time that I could be spending Loving you, backing up every letter to every word that I have ever used to address what we share, who we are and what we have "Ultimately" become.

There couldn't possibly be a better earthly Blessing than that of the woman that you wholeheartedly love, bestowing a child upon you, in the form of "The Ultimate Gift."

To bridge the gap of love manifested and forever connecting the dots of an eternal bond solidified by the culmination of two people who love each other with every ounce of their entire beings, bringing forth a NEW individual to serve as "The Ultimate Gift."

There is no other job on the planet that means more to me than the job as a father, a parent, a role model, a provider, a source of inspiration, a map of motivation, a pillar of strength, an example of determination, all wrapped within the single conduit called "Dad."

"The Ultimate Gift" provided by "The Ultimate Woman" that gives you "The Ultimate Love" forever blossoming into "The Ultimate Life" that you so dreamed of.

To experience "The Ultimate Gift" is to relinquish all of self from the equation then subtracting the remainder by 100%.

The promise of "The Ultimate Gift" is only preceded by "The Ultimate Sacrifice" hence the importance of "The Ultimate Gift" and everything that it means to my life.
